Young Adult Ministry

Connecting with One Another Along Life's Journey

Most people in their 20s and 30s are facing multiple life-shaping decisions: college or graduate school, career choices, deciding where to live, developing intimate relationships, having children, financial stability and so many other crucial choices.  During this transitional time in young adult lives, the Young Adult Ministry of First Church provides a safe place for spiritual growth and exploration, fellowship, local and global mission/outreach and justice action.

Fall Young Adult Sunday School Class
Starts: September 7, 10 a.m.
Fall Focus: "Just Neighbors": We will study the root causes of poverty and homelessness and develop an understanding of the reality of poverty in our midst and a deep empathy for people living in poverty. We will learn about how to change attitudes and empower advocacy to help our neighbors in need.

Youth Group Chaperones
With the help of the youth ministry team and input from the youth, the minister of youth and young adults plans all youth activities and events. Both youth groups also have chaperones, who are active participants in youth activities. Chaperones may be parents, or other First Church adults interested in this ministry. Safety in activities, in supervision, and in following the church’s policies is emphasized.

New Young Adults: Keep In Touch
If you are a young adult who has recently graduated from high school and would like us to have your contact information at college, please tell Rev. Lori your new college address at 614.228.1741, ext. 21 or ltisher@first-church.org.

Culture and Global Perspectives
Young adults today are the most mobile generation ever and tend to view and experience our ethnically diverse world in ways that previous generations have not had the opportunity to do.  If we could turn the population of this diverse world into a small community of 100 people, keeping the same portions we have today, what would the world look like?  Watch the video and find out!
